I’m Alana Rudman

A NYC-based photographer, mom, and 2025 bride who photographs your key moments the way I would want my own remembered. I've been in the city since graduating from Harvard, where I studied art history and psychology and learned to look deeply at people and tell a story in a single image. On a shoot, I'm your director, cheerleader, and occasional baby wrangler, coaxing out moments that feel true to you rather than staged.

About - Alana Captured | New York City Family & Portrait Photographer

I've been a photographer since my first "real" photo in 2010 of a chair’s shadow, the one that taught me what photography actually means: painting with light. I shoot on a variety of digital and film cameras, in natural light, close enough to catch what's actually happening.

I catch the small moments as they happen, and with gentle direction, I bring out the best in you, your family, your guests, or your brand. My late grandfather Norm, my son Noah's namesake, was a nature photographer. He gifted me my first film camera, a Canon AE1, along with an appreciation for the patience film requires.
